GoFundMe Launches DAFpay Across All Charity Fundraising Pages

The new integration enables easy, real-time Donor Advised Fund giving for crisis response and time-sensitive campaigns for over 1 million eligible charities on GoFundMe

The more than 3 million people with Donor Advised Funds in the United States can now easily use them to support eligible nonprofit fundraisers on the industry-leading fundraising platform, GoFundMe.

The integration of DAFpay as a payment option across all GoFundMe fundraising pages for qualified charities marks an important step forward in the usability and utility of DAFs. Historically, if a DAF holder was inspired to support a crowdfunding campaign, there was no way to use their dedicated charitable savings account (a.k.a. Donor Advised Fund). Not only did it take many extra steps to go use their DAF, the gift wouldn’t arrive until several weeks later - completely missing the moment.

With DAFpay enabled, DAF holders can use their DAF in 3 clicks and be fully included in the campaign in real-time. It’s a significantly more engaged and seamless experience, resulting in more giving and larger donations - the average DAFpay gift processed is over $1,300. Now DAF donors don’t need to miss out on the moment and charities don’t need to miss out on those exciting gifts from high-potential donors.

If your organization has received a DAFpay gift through GoFundMe, all you need to do is set up your Chariot account to claim it!

GoFundMe Launches DAFpay as a Payment Method in Partnership with Chariot

May 28, 2024 09:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GoFundMe, the trusted leader in online fundraising, today announced the addition of DAFpay as a payment method, enabling direct, easy, and secure payments to qualified GoFundMe fundraisers directly from donor-advised funds (DAFs). As a result of the partnership between GoFundMe and Chariot, donors now have the option to support over 1 million U.S. charities on GoFundMe and make a direct impact with their DAF dollars.

"By unlocking donor-advised funds, which traditionally have been less accessible for immediate and direct charitable giving, we are innovating to give people another easy way to support causes they care about," said Tim Cadogan, CEO of GoFundMe. "Through DAFpay, donors gain the flexibility to make a meaningful impact quickly and securely, within the trusted GoFundMe fundraising experience they know and love.”

“DAFs are the fastest growing vehicle in philanthropy and a tremendous opportunity in the field of online fundraising,” said Salo Serfati, CEO of Chariot. “Bringing easy DAF giving to GoFundMe will significantly increase DAF usage, which benefits donors, nonprofits and DAFs themselves.”
