GoFundMe is a leading crowdfunding platform that allows individuals, nonprofits, and organizations to raise money for personal causes, charitable initiatives, and more. With an easy-to-use interface, anyone can create a fundraiser and collect donations directly from supporters worldwide. 

In 2024, GoFundMe integrated DAFpay across all Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)-eligible fundraisers, allowing donors to seamlessly contribute using their DAFs. DAFpay is an express checkout option for DAF donors that enables 3-click DAF gifts directly in a donation form. 

New Digital Revenue Source

DAF gifts made up a significant portion of numerous fundraisers on GoFundMe, highlighting their newfound significance in digital fundraising.

  1. On a per campaign basis, DAFpay gifts made up an average of 15% of revenue.
  2. The top 30 campaigns that received DAF gifts had over 25% of their revenue from DAFpay. 
  3. DAFpay made up over 5% of the total fundraising volume for campaigns that received a DAF gift. 

Featured fundraiser: Biking for Leukemia Research


In July 2024, Mike Enright biked nearly 120 miles to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The organization funded the research that led to the development of the drug that saved his son's life from Leukemia. 

Via his fundraiser on GoFundMe, Enright raised 2x more than his initial goal – $22,500. 47% of these funds came through DAFpay. 

Bigger gifts from your largest donors

DAF donors give significantly more when they can use their DAF instead of a credit card. For GoFundMe, DAFpay has the largest average gift size of any payment method. 

  • The average DAF gift was $700, almost 7x larger than the average non-DAF gift size of $116. 
  • For many campaigns, DAF-gift size outpaced non-DAF gift size by astronomical amounts – as much as 41x. 
  • In general, when supporters use their DAF instead of another form of payment, it boosts their giving by 96% on average, according to the 2024 DAF Fundraising Report. 

Featured fundraiser: Memorial for Mayo Clinic

When Dr. Nagpaul-Chaudhry passed away after a 27-month battle with Stage 4 Sarcoma, her family launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe to raise funds for the Mayo Clinic.

The fundraiser raised over $70,000, with $35,917—more than half—coming from DAFpay donations.

9 out of 151 supporters used DAFpay. Their average gift was $3,991 and the median was $2,700.

Instant, connected giving

The benefitting organization won't know anything about the gift until arrives weeks later and it's typically impossible to attribute it to a specific fundraiser on GoFundMe.

This fall, hurricane swept through regions of US, leaving widespread devastation in their wake. Impacted communities turned to GoFundMe as an essential tool to quickly raise funds for recovery. 

The Affordable Senior Housing Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to proving affordable housing for seniors in underserved North Carolina communities, initiated a fundraiser on GoFundMe to help their community-members.

In just a few weeks, the fundraiser raised over $100,000, with 10% of the total—more than $10,000—coming through DAFpay, 

With over $326 billion in Donor Advised Funds, DAF giving is going to be an increasingly critical revenue stream for online giving. GoFundMe has been a pioneer in digital DAF giving, bringing digital DAF funding to many critical causes around the country for the first time in 2024.
