Enrolling with Chariot for Electronic Grant Payments from the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation

The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation is transitioning to Chariot Disbursements: Here’s what you need to know as a grantee.

The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation is Minnesota's largest statewide community foundation, managing $1.9 billion in charitable assets and serving as the partner of choice for thousands of donors, nonprofits, and community organizations. In the coming weeks, they are transitioning their grant payments to be delivered through Chariot Disbursements.

This means that the thousands of nonprofits that receive grants from the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation each year will now be able to receive payments quickly & securely, directly into their Chariot Account, instead of by mail. Grant details will also be available as structured, standardized data fields in the Chariot dashboard, making it easy to sync with a nonprofit CRM & accounting system.

The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation is our newest Disbursement partner, joining dozens of other grantmakers already disbursing via Chariot, including Daffy, Groundswell, and TIFIN Give. A growing list of Disbursement partners means that nonprofits can consolidate more and more of their inbound grant payments into one easy portal.

In the coming weeks, nonprofits with Chariot accounts may start to see grant payments from the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation in their accounts while the transition is underway. This fall, the Foundation’s grant payments are expected to be fully moved to be delivered via Chariot (with a few exceptions).

Enrolling for electronic payments via Chariot requires a control person at your organization to verify their identity and authority to set up your organization’s Chariot Account. There is no cost for a nonprofit to create a Chariot Account, and nonprofits can transfer funds to their external financial account at any time for free. Learn more about account setup here.
