Daffy, the Donor-Advised Fund for You™, is a fast-growing donor-advised fund (DAF) platform with a mission to help people be more generous, more often. Daffy utilizes Chariot Disbursements to send their grant payments, so you may see Daffy gifts in your Chariot Account — here's what you need to know.

Background on Daffy

Daffy was launched in 2021 by Adam Nash and Alejandro Crosa on a simple but powerful belief: that the donor-advised fund, an incredible financial tool historically targeted at the wealthy, could be reimagined for everyone. Academic research shows that pre-commitment to giving leads to more generosity overall, yet traditional DAF providers weren't designed or incentivized to make that accessible. Daffy was built from the ground up to change that.

Unlike traditional DAF providers, Daffy charges a flat monthly membership with no account minimum, supports a wider range of assets, and offers one-of-a-kind features such as Daffy campaigns, custom portfolios, and family giving. Daffy serves tens of thousands of members, with account sizes ranging from as little as $10 to over $100 million. In 2025, Daffy became one of the largest national donor-advised fund providers by number of accounts, holds more than $1 billion in charitable assets, and has sent grants to over 19,000 charities.

Daffy utilizes Chariot Disbursements for faster, more secure, and easier grant payments. Since rolling out Chariot, Daffy has processed donation recommendations totaling over a quarter billion dollars electronically. Funds are available in a nonprofit's Chariot Account instantly, once approved, and gift details are visible to all team members.

How Daffy Works

Each Daffy member has their own giving account, a donor-advised fund, through which they recommend donations to nonprofits. Members can contribute cash, stock, or crypto to their Daffy account and recommend grants to any eligible 501(c)3 nonprofit at any time through the Daffy iOS app or website.

Daffy also offers Daffy for Work, an employer-sponsored giving program that allows companies to offer DAF accounts as an employee benefit and facilitate employer matching of employee contributions. Daffy for Work is used by some of the most innovative companies in the country, including Acorns, OpenAI, and Figma — giving their employees a modern, flexible way to give back to the causes they care about.

Chariot has been a Daffy for Work customer for 2 years, offering up to $200 per month in matching contributions to employee DAF accounts. Not only does the program empower employees with double the giving capacity instead of creating extra work to “match” donations, it also leads employees to be more deeply engaged in giving. As of July 2026, a total of $187k has been contributed to Chariot employee Daffy accounts, and $159k has been granted out of these accounts to 443 distinct nonprofits!

Understanding Daffy Gifts on Chariot

Daffy gifts on Chariot are almost always from individual DAF accounts and will include any donor details that the donor elected to share in Chariot’s standardized data fields in the dashboard. Even if a donor set up their account through a Daffy for Work program, their gifts will appear the same way (not as a match or a company-affiliated DAF).

Gift Processing for Daffy Gifts

The standardized data fields that Daffy and other Chariot Disbursement partners all utilize make it easier to export gift details from your Chariot dashboard to your external systems. If a Daffy donor discloses contact information, it’s highly recommended to thank and engage them as soon as possible!

Other FAQs from Nonprofits about Daffy

Do gifts come with donor contact information?

Daffy members choose what information to share with the charities they support. Some members share their name and contact details, while others give anonymously. Any donor information shared by the member will be visible in your Chariot Account dashboard.

Is Daffy a DAF?

Yes. Daffy is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN: 86-3177440), like all donor-advised fund providers. When a member contributes to their Daffy account, the donation is legally made to Daffy, which holds and manages those charitable assets on behalf of the donor until the member recommends a grant to a nonprofit. To give with Daffy, visit daffy.org or search "Daffy" in the App Store.

Who from a nonprofit should monitor Daffy gifts?

Your gift processing team should be the primary users reviewing Daffy donations in your Chariot dashboard. If your organization has a major gifts or individual giving team, it's worth flagging Daffy donors who share their contact information, Daffy members tend to be engaged, recurring donors who give meaningfully to the causes they care about.

Can we encourage our donors to use Daffy?

Absolutely. Daffy is free to join and takes minutes to set up. If you don't have a DAF yourself, or have donors who give charitably but don't yet have a DAF, Daffy is a great option to recommend. Visit daffy.org or search "Daffy" in the App Store.
