This month puts more self-serve control in your hands and keeps growing the network: reissue lost checks yourself, Foundant DAFs live in DAFpay, and a new grantmaker partner.
Here's what's new:
Managing grant payments
- Self-serve check reissues: When a mailed check goes missing, you no longer need to contact Chariot support to stop and reissue it. A Reissue check button now appears on the disbursement detail page if a check has been in transit for at least 14 days.
- Preferred EIN Routing: Many nonprofits legally control multiple EINs but only want to receive funds through one of them. Nonprofits can now complete a compliance process with Chariot to prove ownership of their EINs and designate the one that should receive disbursements. We flag the other EINs as not accepting disbursements and return the nonprofit's preferred EIN, so your grants always reach the right entity. We're still shaping how rerouting works on your side, so if you have thoughts on the grantmaker or donor experience, reach out to the Chariot team.
Growing the network
- Foundant DAFs are live in DAFpay: Community foundations using Foundant's CommunitySuite can now enable DAFpay for their fundholders, letting donors give from their community foundation DAFs anywhere the DAFpay button appears. Read more about our partnership on our blog.
- New disbursement partner: Welcome, Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, our newest grantmaker sending electronic payments through Chariot! Read more.
What's next
- Scholarship gift disbursements: Support for sending scholarship gifts is coming up. If you’re interested in being a design partner, please reach out to jackm@givechariot.com.
- Earmarking priority disbursements: We’re developing the ability for grantmakers to “earmark” auto-funded disbursements, where funds are reserved specifically for the execution of that disbursement.
- New check vendor: Next month, we’re moving to a new check vendor. Your mailed disbursements will arrive 1-2 days faster in most states, with stronger protections against check washing.
- DAF Day is October 8: The giving day dedicated to DAFs is coming next week! If you haven’t already, download the DAF Provider marketing toolkit for fundholder email templates and social templates. To partner with us officially, complete our Partner Agreement: you'll be listed as an official partner on the DAF Day site, share your day-of results with us (strictly confidential and reported only in aggregate), and be considered for the annual DAF Day Awards.
